Ninja Man was today sentenced to life in prison for a murder conviction.  In 2009, Ninja Man was arrested and charged for the murder of Ricardo Johnson who also went by the name Ricky Trooper.  Last month he was found guilty in court after being absent for most of the trial because of a heart illness.

Ninja must serve at least 25 years of his sentence before he will be eligible for parole.  This means that Ninja might see freedom before fellow dancehall star, Vybz Kartel, who is also serving a life sentence for murder.  Vybz Kartel must serve 35 years of his sentence before he is eligible for parole.

The sentence was handed down by Justice Martin Gayle in the Home Circuit Court a short time ago.

After the sentence was handed down by the judge, Ninja Man smiled and said, “thumbs up judge”.

While Ninja Man and Vybz Kartel are now both serving life sentences for murder, fellow dancehall artiste, Munga Honorable, is awaiting trial for murder also.

These charges and convictions have led many to start questioning if dancehall is murder music.
