Jimmy Cliff, the original pioneer of reggae music, is among the great songwriters nominated for induction into the 2018 Songwriters Hall Of Fame.
Jimmy Cliff was the first to take reggae music off the island of Jamaica to the entire world. He did so in the movie “The harder they come” with a soundtrack by the same name.
Jimmy Cliff is responsible for writing some of Jamaica’s greatest classics like Many rivers to cross, Sitting in Limbo, Harder they come and I can see clearly now.
Cliff is nominated with other great songwriters such as John Mellencamp, Tracy Chapman, Alice Cooper, The Isley Brothers, Chrissie Hynde, Alan Jackson, Kool & the Gang, Tom Waits, Tom T Hall and Mariah Carey.
