There is a story making the rounds on social media that a former CIA agent has admitted to killing the king of reggae, Bob Marley. This story is false although reggae fans and conspiracy theorists have allowed it to go viral.

A former CIA agent did admit responsibility for the death of celebrities like Marilyn Monroe and others but did not specifically said Bob Marley.  Because it is widely believed by many including Ziggy Marley, that Bob was assassinated, 18 Karat Reggae, in an opinion piece, ask the question if it is possible that Bob was on this CIA agent’s hit list.

A tabloid saw the 18 Karat Reggae piece which was simply posing a question and twisted it in their version to create fake news.  So instead of listing Marilyn Monroe as the assassinated celebrity they replaced her name with Bob Marley’s.

Some Jamaicans did not do their homework and spread the story via whatsapp and it grew like a wild fire.

While there is still a strong belief that the CIA was behind Bob Marley’s death, the story being spread about a former CIA agent’s confession is completely false.
