Vybz Kartel appeal pushed back to July of 2018.

Gaza fans who were eagerly waiting for the release of their hero, Vybz Kartel, will have to wait a little while longer to see if the artist can win his appeal.

The appeal that was set sent for February of 2018 has now been pushed back to July of 2018.  Vybz Kartel’s attorneys told the court that they needed more time to prepare the case.  This was unexpected as it took a long time for the attorneys to file the appeal and when they finally did, they said everything was in order and ready to go.

Some on the streets are wondering if Kartel Kartel is having difficulties coming up with all the money for the appeal and that is the reason for the push back.  Dancehall artistes male a substantial amount of their money from live shows and dub plates which Kartel has not been able to do because of his incarceration.

Vybz Kartel is serving a life sentence for the murder of Clive Williams.  This appeal is a last ditch effort to free the artiste.  If Kartel does not win the appeal, he would have to serve 35 years of his sentence before he would be eligible for parole.
