*** Updated *** We apologize for previously reporting that it was drummer Prince Manning who had died.
The drummer for Buju Banton’s Til Shiloh band, Basil “Prince” Shirley has died. He died in Germany after battling an undisclosed illness.
Producer of most of Buju Banton’s albums and CEO of Penthouse Records, Donovan Gemain was very saddened by Prince’s death.
“He wasn’t really a studio drummer, but he played with Til Shiloh band until Buju Banton was incarcerated. He was really good at what he did. He played very close to the record as possible. He was always on tempo and the band could really rely on him to give off that strong beat,” Germain told 18 Karat Reggae.
Germaine went on to describe Prince as a very kind and fun loving person who he had known for over 20 years.
RIP.Prince only God knows the reason bro
