18 Karat Reggae has reported that Marjorie Jones, mother of Jamaica’s biggest female entertainer, died at the Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical Center in the United States.  She died on October 2nd.

Marjorie suffered a massive stroke back in September, at which point Grace Jones held a bedside vigil for her.

Marjorie is originally from Spanish Town, Jamaica, but she migrated to New York City to be with Grace Jones in 1977.  Grace Jones had just hit stardom at tat point and signed hr first record deal with Island Records.

Marjorie spent most of her life in Syracuse, New York, working with the Apostolic Church of Jesus Christ. She was known for keeping church in her backyard and also setting up crusades through Syracuse.

Marjorie is survived by four sons and three daughters, including Jamaica’s most famous daughter, Grace Jones.
