Vybz Kartel was discharged from the hospital after being hospitalized for 8 days at the University of the West Indies Hospital (UWIH). After his release, Kartel was immediately taken back to the Tower Street Correctional Center where he will continue to take his medicine for an additional 7 days.

During Vybz Kartel’s hospital stay, the dancehall deejay was able to reunite with his mother after some six years. Kartel’s parents visited him while he was admitted to the University Hospital of the West Indies.

Popcaan and Tommy Lee also attempted to visit the world boss in the hospital but they were not allowed it.  It is not clear if the police guards prevented them from visit or if it was Vybz Kartel who refused their visit.

Vybz Kartel is currently serving a life sentence for the murder of Clive “Lizard” Williams. He has filed an appeal which the court is due to hear in February of 2018.
